Although Sabira had never been into working out, she immediately fell in love with CrossFit after first trying CrossFit in 2013. She now heads CrossFit Illuminati’s Running Program as our running coach.
When she first began CrossFit, Sabira often times had to walk in workouts which included running. However, with time, persistence, and conditioning, her endurance improved significantly and she began seeing that improvement translate into better performances in her workouts and conditioning in every day life.
In spring of 2014, just months after starting CrossFit, she decided to run a 5k with one of the new friends she had made at her CrossFit gym. After the race, while still feeling that famous “runner’s high”, she asked herself “What would it be like to run a marathon?”. She decided to find out! In January of 2015, after many months of CrossFit and run training, she ran the Chevron Houston Marathon. She found it to be an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience and has since run many different races, including other marathons and half marathons.
Sabira feels that one of the greatest things about running is that anyone can do it; it is a great way increase to cardio endurance and a person’s metabolism. Running also burns lots of calories and can help one lose weight.
If you have a particular race on your bucket list, want to be able to run a particular distance or even just improve your time in workouts, Sabira can help personalize your running programming utilizing sprints, hill work, long distance running and post-run stretches.
